IRELAND’S THOMAS BARR is in impressive form at the moment after running another season’s best time at the Diamond League meeting in London to put him in a strong position ahead of the European Championships in August.
The Waterford man clocked up a time of 48.99 in the 400m hurdles to take third place in a strong field of runners on Saturday.
The race was won by 2017 World Champion Karsten Warholm of Norway while world silver medalist Yasmani Copello finished ahead of Barr in second place.
This was Barr’s first time this season to run the event in under 49 seconds and eclipses his previous season’s best time of 49.10, which he ran less than two weeks ago in Lucerne. Prior to that, he ran a season’s best time of 49.40 in Samorin, Slovakia in June.
It also puts him in a strong position to contest for a medal at the European Championships in Berlin next month.
Another step forward today, and I didn’t get the norovirus. Great success! Thanks for all the kind messages, looking forward to another few key sessions before #berlin2018 pic.twitter.com/CPPRwliDwH
